Fisher House enables families to quickly settle into a stable routine, knowing that their loved one is getting the best quality of care at the QE and they can remain close at hand.
The 18-bedroom ‘home away from home’ offers a supportive environment where residents have the space to relax. Expertly managed by Patrick Hogan and his team, the home also allows patients to spend time with their loved ones away from the wards.
We know through experience that families take great comfort and strength from sharing their experiences with others in the same situation, which is one of the reasons we’ve put communal living at the heart of Fisher House.
Designed for people of all abilities, the home is a largely open plan property with wide, connecting corridors and wheelchair accessible lifts.
Communal living facilities include a family room and play area, lounge, ‘cinema room’, dining areas and laundry room. The kitchen is kept stocked with essential provisions such as tea, coffee and bread, and all families also have access to personal cupboard and fridge space to help them feel at home.
Each of the 18 spacious en-suite bedrooms is a haven for families; every one equipped with a king-sized bed, fitted wardrobes, desk, chair and sofa bed.
Outside is a private garden with space for children to play in, and guest parking is provided on site.
Next door to Fisher House is the hospital’s sports and leisure facility, the Morris Centre. The Morris Centre offers a 22-metre swimming pool, two squash courts, a new multi-use games area and gym, all of which can be used by military patients and their families who are staying at Fisher House.
