Headstart Group Meetings

The overall goal is that each participant develops a sense that the group is a safe place in which respect and acceptance are important. The aim of the group is to help recovery by:

1. Encouraging one another

2. Sharing experiences

3. Helping participants to build confidence and self-worth

4. Identifying new skills

5. Enabling a new self-awareness

6. Showing respect and acceptance of one another

7. Showing practical signs of care like listening or giving praise

8. Sharing each others struggles and ways to overcome them

9. Reassuring each other

Headstart Group Activities

1. Group visits for educational and recreational purposes

2. Visiting speakers attend group meetings to discuss topics related to brain injuries

3. Fundraising events and craft sales

4. Seasonal social activities

5. Communication with other similar support groups in the UK and wider world

Where and When

Headstart meetings are held on the first Friday of the month between 7.00pm and 9.00pm in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Imaging Department Seminar Room.
