Heartlands Treatment Centre

Heartlands Treatment Centre

UHB Charity is proud to work with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to bring Heartlands Treatment Centre to Heartlands Hospital.

The hospital charity has launched a £1 million appeal to support the Trust in the creation of the new centre. We have identified two key areas to support:

MRI Scanner

The creation of this new centre provides the opportunity to include a separate MRI suite which would be additional from the one in the main hospital.  This will increase the capacity of diagnosis amongst outpatients to reduce wait times both for out patients and in patients, as the hospital currently shares a suite for both. The additional MRI scanner will drastically reduce current waiting times and address inequalities in health care found across the West Midlands.

Suite Decoration and Paediatric Recovery Room

UHB Charity will also decorate the MRI Suite, treatment and consultation rooms with wall glamour and comforting images which will create a more relaxing and calming environment for the patients who spend their time being treated there. An MRI Scan can be an isolating and frightening experience.   UHB Charity hope by decorating the surroundings with bright and calming images and employing a voice activated scanner, a patient will feel more relaxed throughout the whole process.
