2.6 Challenge launches!

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic so many events have had to be cancelled or postponed, including the Virgin Money London Marathon which was due to take place on Sunday 26 April. Since its first race, 40 years ago, the marathon has raised over a billion pounds for good causes.

In response to the delay of the London Marathon, the organisers of the biggest mass participation sports events across the country have come together to create a new campaign to help support the UK’s charities, and you can get involved and raise money to support patients across our four hospitals.

The 2.6 Challenge is open to all people of all ages. All you have to do is dream up a challenge based around the numbers 2.6 or 26. It could be a 2.6 mile run or walk, 2.6 laps of the garden, 26 times up and down your stairs, throwing a ball into a bucket 2.6 metres away 26 times, or 26 minutes of yoga!

Whatever you choose to do, remember to keep in mind the government social distancing and exercise guidelines!
We want you to either take on, or complete, your challenge on 26 April 2020. There are many famous faces who will be taking on the challenge, so keep an eye out on social media!

To take part, simply come up with a challenge and then set up a fundraising page by visiting https://www.twopointsixchallenge.co.uk/ and selecting Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, Good Hope Hospital Charity or Solihull Hospital Charity.

Please let us know if you’re taking part! Upload photos of your challenge to social media and use the hashtag #TwoPointSixChallenge and #Londonmarathon

The money that you raise will help us to support our NHS Superheroes at this difficult time.
