Birmingham family raise funds for Ward 19 in memory of father

Birmingham woman, Norsheen Abbas together with her friends and family have climbed the highest mountain in England and Wales, Mount Snowdon to raise funds for Ward 19 at Heartlands Hospital, the Ruth Astles Centre at Heartlands and John Taylor Hospice.

The group took on the climb in memory of Norsheen’s father, Mohammed Abbas, who was treated at Heartlands Hospital and sadly passed away in August 2017. They were pushed to their limits as the weather conditions were treacherous, and despite almost making it to the top, were forced to stop as the guides deemed it too dangerous to continue. They are, however, planning to do the challenge again in fairer conditions to reach the summit.

Norsheen said: “I don’t think we can thank the staff at Heartlands Hospital enough, everybody’s contribution made my father’s treatment made him feel as normal as possible whilst he was ill.”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital said: "Thank you to the Abbas family and their friends for your fantstic contribution to the Charity, fundraisers pushing themselves to their absolute limits is extremely inspiring."
