Boparan Charitable Trust donate £15,000 to Children’s appeal

Boparan Charitable Trust has made an amazing donation of £15,000 to the Children’s appeal at Good Hope Hospital to help us in the refurbishment of the Children’s Outpatients Department!

The Charitable Trust aim to help children and young people when they need it most, this means providing them with new equipment that their families might not be able to afford and also helping Charity’s like us with some of the bigger projects.

The Children’s appeal at Good Hope Hospital has seen the Children’s Outpatients Department be completely refurbished, to create a more child-friendly environment.

The department is now full of new toys and games for children to play with whist they are waiting for their appointments, including sensory equipment, a floor projector and books.

The waiting area is the not the only part of the department that has been kitted out, the treatment rooms have now been revamped and are now bright, colourful and calming for the children who are treated in them.

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “A huge thank you to the Boparan Charitable Trust for donating such a huge amount of money to help us with the Children’s appeal. The new department is incredible and will benefit patients, families and even the staff so much.”

Before the department was refurbished, it was all one colour and not very inviting for the children that get treated there. A lot of children that visit the department have illnesses that limit them on what they can do, so including sensory items and lots of different toys means that all children have something they can use whilst they are there.

Melanie Stanyer, Paediatric Clinic Clerk for Children’s Outpatients Department, said: “The new department is so great for the children who get treated here, and even the staff are loving the new department! The brightness of the department makes it a much nicer environment to work in for the staff and the children seem less weary of being in hospital now they have so many new toys to play with!

“Thank you so much to Boparan Charitable Trust for your kind donation to the new department, we are all so happy with how it looks now!”
