A drama society at the University of Birmingham has been busy fundraising for QEHB Charity.

In 2014-2015, Infinity Stage Company supported QEHB Charity’s  VIP Appeal as their charity partner. This appeal focused upon making coming to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for radiotherapy as pleasant as possible for children by creating a child-friendly recovery room and play area in the waiting room. Infinity Stage Company raised £2,255 by helping with QEHB Charity atrium stands, donating the profits of ticket sales and through holding fundraising evenings.

The drama lovers have now decided to support QEHB Charity’s Dignity in Care appeal for the QE’s elderly patients for 2015-2016. This campaign includes raising money for MyLife units, where patients with dementia can read their own ‘life story’, which will be compiled by family members and staff. These life stories will include memorable moments throughout many patients’ lives, from general memorable historic occasions through to personal instances of importance.

Laura Power, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “It is great to see really busy students so community-focused. Their generosity is going to change the lives of many children coming to the hospital for radiotherapy. On behalf of QEHB Charity, I want to thank Infinity Stage Company for their amazing work thus far; we are looking forward to another year of great fundraising!”
