You may remember our earlier story regarding Sarah Codling, a 28 year old from Woodgate Valley, Birmingham, who received a heart transplant in January of this year and decided to hold a fundraising ‘wax-off’ as a result.

Sarah had been suffering from Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), a congenital heart defect, since birth. After being placed on the urgent transplant waiting list, she only had to wait eight days to receive her new heart.

The ‘wax-off’ took place on Saturday, October 10th, at the Slug and Lettuce in Harborne, and was an incredibly popular event. Twenty men braced themselves for the wickedness of the wax, with beauticians present to make sure that the event was professionally and safely managed.

Sarah also held a raffle, offering prizes from days out to spray tans!

Overall, Sarah raised an incredible £6026.80 for QEHB Charity’s Heart and Lung Transplant Fund.

Laura Power, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “What a fun way to raise money for QEHB Charity’s Heart and Lung Transplant Fund! This event took a huge amount of effort to organise, and on behalf of QEHB Charity I want to thank Sarah for all of her hard work.”
