Christmas Deliveries at Solihull Hospital spread joy to patients

Skipton Building Society has partnered with Solihull Hospital Charity to bring joy to patients at the hospital this Christmas.

Jo Orme and Charlotte Bassford are customer relationship consultants for Skipton Building Society, and they wanted to do something to bring smiles to patients at Solihull Hospital.

The pair coordinated 56 blessing bags to be made up for chemotherapy patients, containing tissues, mints, lip balm and hand sanitizers to help make patients more comfortable this Christmas.

Jo and Charlotte purchased the items and made up the bags themselves, and they were gratefully received by the patients on the ward. Gemma Hughes, Ward Manager of the Haematology and Oncology Unit, said: “I am over the moon with the generosity from Jo and Charlotte, the bags are lovely and our patients will really appreciate them over Christmas.”

Over recent weeks, customers at Skipton Building Society have been encouraged to ‘take a tag and donate a bag’. This scheme saw customers fill gift bags with Christmas presents for the children who are treated in the outpatients department over the Christmas period.

The generous customers have donated toys and gifts for children of all ages, and Jo and Charlotte delivered the toys to staff nurse Helen Rooney.

Jo and Charlotte said: “We are very grateful to all of the customers of Skipton Building Society in Solihull who donated toys and gifts, we greatly appreciate their generosity.”

Fundraising Manager at Solihull Hospital Charity, Samantha Howell, said: “Huge thanks go to Jo, Charlotte, and the amazing customers at Skipton Building Society in Solihull for their incredible Christmas gifts.

“Their generosity will help to bring smiles to patients of all ages who have to be in hospital over Christmas. It was a pleasure to distribute the gifts with Charlotte and Jo, the patients were delighted to receive them and the staff are all incredibly appreciative.”
