Couple fundraise in memory of their baby girl Mia Rose

Couple Emma Ibbotson and Ash Cheneler have raised a substantial £1,598 for the Eden Suite at Heartlands Hospital in memory of their daughter Mia Rose.

Earlier this year the couple’s daughter Mia Rose June Cheneler sadly passed away due to her being born very premature. In memory of their daughter the couple raised £1,598 towards the Eden Bereavement Suite at Heartlands. The suite cares for those families who sadly lose their baby through miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death. The unit provides a peaceful and private environment for parents in their time of need.

The couple were looked after remarkably well by the staff at the Eden Suite during such a difficult time. Emma wanted to thank the staff but gave a special thanks to Clare Beesley, Bereavement Midwife at Heartlands Hospital for going ‘over and above’ to support them during such a tragic time. The couple raised their money by holding a festival event at home organising raffles and a tombola.

The couple’s donation will help to fund a Cuddle Cot for the suite. Cuddle Cots keep the babies at an appropriate temperature, which extends the period of time that parents have to spend with their baby and make moments that they will treasure forever. As the NHS does not provide Cuddle Cots, donations such as Emma and Ash’s make it possible for Heartlands Hospital Charity to provide the suite with the ‘added extras’ for the parents.

Sian Averill, Fundraising manager at Heartlands Hospital said: “Words cannot express how grateful the Charity is for the amazing donation of £1,598 towards funding for a Cuddle Cot. It will make a substantial difference for parents who have sadly lost their baby and want to spend more time with them making precious memories. Thank you both!"
