Ed Hawkins’ fundraising success

Ed Hawkins has been teaching yoga at Mere Green Library, Sutton Coldfield, for many years.

Having recently celebrated her 80th birthday, Ed is continuing to teach yoga to her class.

Ed’s dedication is multi-stranded. Not only has she been a pillar of the local community through her years of teaching yoga, but Ed has also raised over £10,000 for the military patients that QEHB Charity support.

She has done this by having a QEHB Charity collection tin at the front of her yoga class for years; over time, this huge sum of money has accumulated.

The generosity of Ed does not stop there. In lieu of receiving presents for her 80th birthday, Ed asked for donations for QEHB Charity. Therefore, £1,500 was raised from her birthday party alone.

After all this, it is no wonder that Ed has been nominated for a Best in Care Award, and has made the shortlist for the final ceremony on Thursday 12th November.

Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of QEHB Charity, said: “Ed’s persistent fundraising for the military patients we support here at QEHB Charity is awe-inspiring. On behalf of the charity I want to give Ed our warmest thanks, and wish her the very best of luck for the evening of the Best in Care Awards!”
