Fighting Skin Cancer receives a heart-warming donation from Mrs Barbra Farr and her friends and family
Barbra Farr incredibly raised and donated a fantastic sum of £1,000 for UHB Fighting Skin Cancer Fund, in memory of her husband.
Eleven years ago Barbra was treated at the Cancer Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and wanted to donate to this incredible department as a thanks for the wonderful care provided there. Barbra told us how appreciative she was for the amazing treatment she received, commenting “I just wanted to give something back. Even though my husband didn’t come to this hospital, I think he would have wanted the same.”
Dr. Neil Steven and Donna Begg also attended this donation, who Barbra thanked for all their support. Barbra was very appreciative of this wonderful team for the treatment she received under their care, and was especially grateful to Dr. Steven who she expressed was “just brilliant – he saved my life.”
Initially, when Barbra was diagnosed she was given a prognosis of two years, and underwent a range of operations and chemotherapy. However, eleven years later, she was able to revisit the department that provided her with this life-saving care, kindly raising funds to benefit this unit.
Barbra managed to raise a whopping £1,000 in total for this fund, which will go towards benefitting patients just like her. Barbra managed to raise this money through her friends and family, who all wanted to support the department that treated Barbra so excellently.
These donations mean the world to UHB Charity, and we will be forever grateful to individuals like Barbra for their donations, which can make such a huge difference to other patients and their families receiving treatment at this hospital.
