Final year medical student thanks Upper GI Support Group

James Bundred is a final year Upper GI (Gastrointestinal) Medical student at the University of Birmingham. Over the past few months he has been working under the supervision of Mr Ewen Griffiths, Consultant General and Upper Gastrointestinal surgeon at QEHB.

The Upper GI Support Group who are a fund within QEHB Charity granted £1,200 towards research into oesophageal cancer, James’ research will help personalise patient’s treatments to target their cancer. His research will work towards establishing whether surgery, radiation or chemotherapy will work best to target an individual’s cancer.

James will be a qualified junior doctor in just a few short months and has pledged to regularly participate in research into oesophageal cancer. Without your donations, ground-breaking research such as the kind that James and Mr Ewan Griffiths have carried out will not be a possibility.

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising at QEHB Charity said: “The Charity is delighted that James has been able to conduct such fascinating research that will benefit the many oesophageal cancer patients that are treated at QEHB. I, along with my team wish James the best of luck in the future!”
