Friends of Good Hope raise thousands with Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s in Wylde Green partnered with Friends of Good Hope Hospital for the year to help raise money for patients, families and staff at the hospital in Sutton Coldfield.

To raise money, the team at Sainsbury’s, with help from FOGH, held many bucket collections in store and various raffles throughout the year to raise an incredible £6,435.18 for Good Hope Hospital Charity!

Friends of Good Hope Hospital have supported the hospital charity and the patients, staff and families that pass through the doors every day for many years.

They have been an incredible help to the hospital charity in raising money for some of our huge projects including the refurbishment of the Children’s Outpatients Department, which is almost completed, and the brand new Midwifery Led Unit.

FOGH donated £10,000 to the refurbishment of the Children’s Outpatients Department at the hospital which has so far seen the main corridor of the department turn from plain and not very child-friendly, to bright, colourful and full of toys for children of all ages to play with whilst they wait for their appointment.

Not only is this useful for the children, it is great for the parents who have to wait for appointments and want to keep their children occupied, and also for the staff who might need a distraction for children needing blood tests.

FOGH have also helped to fund other added extras for the hospital charity including cancer cloud kits which help younger people understand their family members cancer diagnosis, to Glideaway® beds which means that family members can stay overnight with their loved one whilst they are in hospital receiving treatment.

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “A huge thank you to both Friends of Good Hope Hospital and Sainsbury’s in Wylde Green for raising such an incredible amount of money.

“This money will really help the Charity purchase new added extras for our patients, staff and families that go over and above what the NHS can fund.”
