Generous patient gives back to hospital that saved his life

During 2013 and 2014, Raj Narula was treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for a rare disease. The treatment that Raj received at the hospital saved his life, and he therefore decided that he wanted to give something back.

On 12th September, Raj and a team of six others ran the Birmingham Fun Run in order to raise money for QEHB Charity’s Rare Diseases Centre and Eye Appeal. Raj raised a staggering £1,160, completely surpassing his original fundraising goal of £300. Included in Raj’s total is a generous £150 donation from his company, Portakabin Limited.

Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “We were incredibly humbled to hear of Raj’s story at the QE and his subsequent determination in fundraising for the charity. We want to thank Raj for his efforts in raising such a brilliant amount for our Rare Diseases centre and Eye Appeal. We also want to thank Raj’s company, Portakabin Limited, for their donation to Raj’s fundraising.”
