Good Hope Hospital Charity is raising £300,000 to renovate the children’s areas at the hospital, making them more bright and child-friendly for the 30,000 children who are treated there each year.

The appeal has received a boost thanks to a very generous donation from The Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council. The Council has donated £10,000 to the appeal, which will help the Charity to provide a beautiful space that will help children relax before their appointment, keeping them calm and putting their parents at ease.

Councillor David Pears is the Chair of the Amenities, Leisure and Community Services committee, which approved the grant. He said: “We are delighted to support the hospital charity’s Children’s appeal with a Community Grant. For children and their parents, hospital appointments can be anxious times, so it is important to create a welcoming space to help everyone keep calm. Looking after the health and wellbeing of residents is a priority for the Town Council and we are pleased to support our local hospital.”

Laura Power, Fundraising Manager at Good Hope Hospital Charity, said: “The Charity’s thanks go to the Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council for this incredibly generous donation.

“Without such donations, it would not be possible for the Charity to renovate the children’s department at the hospital. The Charity is determined to create a space where children feel safe and calm before their treatment, and hope that the environment will match the fantastic quality of care on offer at the hospital.

“Thanks to The Royal Sutton Coldfield Town Council, the Charity will be able to go ‘over and above’ to support children and their parents at Good Hope Hospital.”
