Following the success of previous fundraising (see link below), Gwyn French, with help from his wife Lucy, held a charity golf day on 3rd July 2015 at Milford Haven Golf Club, where Gwyn is the captain. 120 golfers took part and competed in teams of four, with the couple raising £2,000 in the process. They also held a raffle and auction on the day. This brings their current fundraising up to a fantastic £4,000, which will be spent on the Normothermic Regional Perfusion machine.
This machine keeps the liver, pancreas, and kidneys perfused with the donors’ own oxygenated blood after cardiac and circulatory death, meaning that patients for transplant have 24 hours to reach the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham to have their transplant.
As Gwyn’s health continues to flourish since his liver transplant procedure was completely successfully four years ago, the Liver Foundation continues to flourish also through the generous fundraising efforts of Gwyn and Lucy.
Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to the continuing support of Gwyn and Lucy. They are a wonderful couple, and the charity would like to wish them all the best for the future.”
