Happy International Nurses Day 2022!

Happy International Nurses Day 2022!

Each and every day we are inspired by all the incredible nurses who work across University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. However this International Nurses Day we get to say an extra special thank you.

We asked some fantastic nurses from across our four hopsitals what nursing meant to them and they had this to say.

Soly, a nurse who works on the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit at Solihull said: "Nursing is not just a job, its my lifes passion. It's incredibly rewarding, we treat our patients holistically, we empathise and sympathise with them. Sometimes it can be very sad, other times very happy as we form such close relationships with them."

Abbie, a nurse associate at Heartlands Children's Department said: "Nursing to me is all about treating my little patients with kindess and compassion and helping to put them at ease."

Joanne, a Sister at the Special Care Baby Unit at Good Hope, said: "Nursing is a huge part of my life, i couldn't imagine doing anything else. We nurse babies on the unit from 23 weeks up until it is time for them to go home. We are part of those families lives throughout and support them every step of the way."

Kiran, Lead Skull Base CNS Nurse at QEHB, said: "It's a huge privilege to be a part of this amazing profession, Happy International Nurses Day to all my incredible colleagues!"

Here at UHB Charity we are continually in awe of everything our nurses do, Happy International Nurses Day to every single one of you!
