Head of Trust Security takes on 10K

Grant Moss, Head of Trust Security at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is taking on the SimplyHealth Great Birmingham 10k this weekend, Sunday 6 May to raise funds for the hospital which he is so passionate about.

Grant has been a keen runner throughout his life, regularly taking on huge distances, however, due to illness and a knee injury he was forced to stop running. After an operation by Professor Sir Keith Porter, Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeon at QEHB Grant was able to begin light exercise again.

In October 2017 Grant became determined to get back into shape and start running more seriously again, so beginning by taking part in Park Run every Saturday, a free weekly 5k run in his local park Grant began to build up his fitness, losing over two stones in the process! Now, Grant is taking part in the 10K this weekend, to not only prove to himself, and others how far he has come, but also to raise funds for the hospital charity.

Grant said: “My Dad was treated at QEHB for heart failure and thanks to the doctors here we were able to have four more years with him than anybody expected, for that I am extremely grateful. Having worked at the hospital for such long time now, I really love my job, and so I want to give back to the hospital as they have done so much for me and my family.”
