'Live from The Front Room'

Solihull band, Blue Nation, have been performing for over 67 weeks live on Facebook to help raise money for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity!

Last March, when the UK went into its first national lockdown, Solihull based band, Blue Nation, pledged to perform live on Facebook every Thursday night at 7pm. In doing so, they decided to give back to their local NHS and raise money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB). They have been asking their supporters every week to donate as much or as little as they can to support our frontline NHS workers, during what might be the most difficult year they may ever have to face in their careers.

The Blues/Rock band, featuring Neil Murdoch on guitar and vocals, Luke Weston playing bass, and Ben Bradley on drums, have now been gigging from Neil’s front room for 67 weeks, and have raised over £800 for University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) Charity! As Blue Nation’s fans are not just from Birmingham, the band have been encouraging and inspiring their fans to support and donate to their local NHS charity this past year.
The band does also have their own, personal, reasons for choosing to support UHB Charity. Whilst the band all shares a mutual friend, who is currently being treated at the QEHB for cancer, Neil’s mother has also been treated at the QEHB for cancer.

Lead singer, Neil, said: “I have nothing but good things to say about the QE, how they treated my mom, and how they are treating my friend. We just want to shine a light on the amazing work that the staff in hospitals do, they are saving lives!
We have been asking our supporters, who would usually spend money on our gig tickets, or our merchandise, to give money to the charity.”

Blue Nation also launched a raffle, giving you the chance to win one of their amazing prizes, whilst helping the band raise money for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s NHS Superheroes appeal!
Tickets cost £1 each, and remember, the more tickets you buy the greater your chances are of winning!

Fundraising Manager, Sam Howell, said: “UHB Charity is so incredibly grateful for the support of Blue Nation, over the past 15 months. The dedication from the band has been amazing, and the support from their fans is great! Our NHS Superheroes have had a tough past year, and as a charity we have been doing everything we can do to support them. We cannot provide anything, without the support of wonderful fundraisers like Neil, Luke and Ben, and their fans.”
