Lord Major of 2014 - 2015 is a true charity champion!

On the evening of Wednesday 13 April, Chief Executive of QEHB Charity Mike Hammond and Fundraising Officer Sian Averill received a cheque from money raised during Cllr Shafique Shah’s year as Lord Mayor of Birmingham, 2014 – 2015.

Four charities were supported in the year 2014 – 2015 by the Lord Mayor’s Charity Committee: QEHB Charity, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Sifa Fireside, and Focus Birmingham.

The Lord Mayor’s Charity Committee works incredibly hard throughout the year in order to raise money for the fantastic causes it supports, from holding the annual Mega Quiz, to the Lord Mayor’s Comedy Evening, to a Charity Golf Day.

A fantastic total of £40,000 was raised throughout the year, and was equally split between the four charities.

Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of QEHB Charity, said: “We were incredibly grateful and honoured to have been chosen as one of the four charities of the year, 2014 – 2015 by the then-Lord Mayor, Shafique Shah. The donation to QEHB Charity is incredibly generous, and we recognise the amount of hard work that has gone in to raising such a spectacular sum; it will make a huge difference to patients and staff at the QE. On behalf of the Charity, I want to thank the Cllr Shah and the Lord Mayor’s Charity Committee.”
