M6 toll generously donates to support patients and military

Midlands Expressway Limited (MEL) generously donated thousands of pounds to QEHB Charity as part of its M6 Drive for Charity fundraising event.

The event took place on Friday 7th August, when MEL donated £10,000 from the day’s toll revenues to QEHB Charity and Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ for military patients and their families.

Crowds enjoyed stalls and visited displays to find out more about the work of QEHB Charity and Fisher House, as well as Violets in Bloom, Staffordshire Search and Rescue Team, Midlands Air Ambulance and Emergency services.

Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, Laura Power, said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen as one of M6 Toll’s three charities and are delighted to welcome them to the QEHB Charity team.

“This generous donation will be used to fund added extras, like a teacher for teenagers with cancer and slippers for elderly patients, as well as cutting edge equipment and vital medical research. The money will also help provide free accommodation to families of ill or injured military troops at Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ on site of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

“We look forward to working closely with everyone at M6 Toll for the next 12 months and thank them again for their invaluable support of QEHB Charity.”
