Maxwell Runs for UHB Charity

Sporty 10 year-old Maxwell Eaton has taken on a mammoth four-marathon running challenge in order to raise money for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity.

Having had a number of family and friends treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for cancer, Maxwell was inspired to take on his fundraising challenge in order to say thank you to staff. As a football and cross-country lover, he decided on a running challenge, and has set himself the target of walking and running a total of four marathons throughout July – that’s 104.8 miles! Across 31 days, he hopes to complete an average of 3.4 miles with the help of his mum, Katy.

Maxwell had initially set himself the target of raising £250 on his JustGiving page, but has received overwhelming support from his family members and classmates and has surpassed this, raising an incredible £1085 before even beginning his challenge!

Speaking about Maxwell’s fundraising, Cathryn Worth, Fundraising Manager, said “We are so incredibly grateful to have Maxwell supporting our charity. We are proud of the care our staff provide, and love to hear how it inspires such amazing fundraising! We wish Maxwell the best of luck as his challenge begins, and can’t wait to be updated on his progress!"
