National Citizen Service Worcestershire raise money for Fisher House

The team from YMCA National Citizen Service (NCS) in Worcestershire made it their goal this summer to raise money for Fisher House UK, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity’s military home away from home.

The group from NCS put on their very own pub quiz and cake sale at The White Swan in Wythall and raised an incredible £410.59 for Fisher House UK!

NCS is a government funded initiative that brings young people from different backgrounds together to offer new experiences, providing them with the chance to discover their talents and realise their potential.

The programme allows young people to make a difference and contribute to their local communities, just like the Worcestershire team have done with Fisher House UK.

Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraisier at QEHB Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to the team at YMCA NCS in Worcestershire who put on their very own pub quiz and raised an incredible amount of money.

“The money raised will go towards making families stays more comfortable at Fisher House and could fund up to 16 nights in Fisher House UK for families who are visiting their loved ones in hospital.”

Fisher House UK is the hospital charity’s home away from home for military patients and their families on the site of the hospital. It opened in 2013 and has since offered free accommodation for thousands of military patients and their families.
