Terrific trio of trustees

Meet our three new fantastic trustees who have joined University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s Board of Trustees.

Alexia Binns, Amil Khan and Hannah Woodhall-Pagan bring a fresh new dynamism to the board with their broad range of skills and diverse view points.

They join the other seven members on the board in having ultimate responsibility for everything that happens in the charity, and making sure we deliver our purpose and mission to help as many patients and their families as well as staff across UHB NHS Foundation Trust as possible.

Alexia Binns (pictured centre) is an experienced solicitor and fresh from heading up Legal Procurement of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, she joined the Trustee Board of the hospital charity in August 2022.
She told us, “At a time when healthcare is so crucial to patients, I enjoy being strategically involved in making a difference to the improvement of the health and wellbeing of the community.”

Amil Khan (pictured right) prides himself on being the Director of the national organisation, Remembering Srebrenica. He oversees the delivery of over 1,000 community action projects and activities every year to raise awareness of the Bosnian genocide across all sectors including schools, local authorities, police forces, and places of worship. Amil also has a love for cricket and a passion for ensuring inclusivity in the game as he is the non-executive lead on equality, diversity and inclusion on the Warwickshire Cricket Board. Previously, Amil spent nearly a decade as a school governor at an additional needs primary school in Birmingham.

Hannah Woodall-Pagan (pictured left) is a highly motivated member of the board who has recently been promoted to Company Secretary at Severn Trent Plc. Hannah is responsible for providing governance advice and guidance to the Board and senior management. Hannah is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of local communities and has previously worked with charities including Mitchells & Butlers Charitable Trusts and PAPYRUS, the UK Charity for the prevention of young suicide.

Chair of the Charity’s Board of Trustees, David Mackay said, “We are delighted to add three new, diverse Trustees to our Board. They bring a mix of youthful skills and vitality in the shape of legal expertise, governance, digital marketing and a sound knowledge of our local community. We believe they will be great assets to the board and help the charity deliver on its purpose.”

Charity CEO, Mike Hammond said, “All three members are bringing with them a wealth of experience and expertise that will hugely benefit the Charity and help us deliver on our mission to go ‘Over and Above’ what the NHS can provide. We look forward to working with our new Trustees to help us continue providing vital support to our patients, their families and staff.”
