Pair are ‘eagle’ as ever to raise money

Alan Gallimore and Nige Coleman have chosen to support QEHB Charity for the second year running by hosting another of their incredible golf days to help raise money.

The pair have chosen to continue supporting the QEHB Cancer appeal here at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham after two members of their golf society, the Hackers and Whackers Golf Society, have been treated successfully at the hospital.

Alan, who is one of the organisers of the event, said: “We organise the golf event every year with the money raised going to charity. Due to the fantastic treatment two of the regular members of the group received at the QEHB Cancer units in 2018, Nige and I decided to organise another Golf Charity Day where all of the money raised will be donated to QEHB Charity.”

On the day, 40 golfers took part including the two members who successfully received treatment at the hospital the year before, and raised an incredible £5,593.75 for the Cancer appeal!

Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraiser for QEHB Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to Alan and Nige who chose to support us for the second year running! Their charity golf day really is amazing and we are so glad everyone had an incredible day playing golf and supporting the hospital charity.

“All of the money the team have raised will go towards funding added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can fund for patients who are being treated for cancer at the hospital, so thank you to everyone who helped raise this incredible amount of money!”

Alan and Nige would like to thank MacDonald Hill Valley Golf Club for hosting the event at their venue and Gareth Evans, the Head of MacDonald Central Golf Sales, for ensuring everything ran smoothly.

They would also like to thank the following golf clubs for donating four ball vouchers to help raise money on the day: MacDonald Portal Golf Club, The Wrekin Golf Club, The Chase Golf Club, Ingestre Gold Club, The Shropshire Golf Club, The Manor Golf Club, The Belfry Golf Resort, Hawkstone Golf Club, Walsall Golf Club, Drayton Manor Golf Club, Newcastle Golf Club, Calderfields Golf and Country Club, Lichfield Golf and Country Club, Beau Desert Golf Club, Aqualate Golf Club, Uttoxeter Golf Club, Maxstoke Park Golf Club, and Telford Golf Resort.
