Ray Kirton, a steadfast fundraiser of QEHB Charity, enlisted the help of members of Southam 2028 Air Cadet Squadron in November 2015 for his annual ‘swimathon’, raising money for Fisher House UK. The event was a huge success, with the whole team swimming between 100-200 lengths of the pool each, reaching an accumulative total of 27 miles and a fantastic fundraising total of £2,000, out of which £602 was raised by the cadets.

Ray and the generous members of the Squadron were delighted to receive a certificate of appreciation from QEHB Charity in recognition of the hard work they put in to fundraising for Fisher House UK.

Ray said: “The aim of the event was to swim the length between Southam Leisure Centre and Fisher House, and I was delighted for us to reach that target! The volunteers from the Southam 2028 Air Cadet Squadron were brilliant, with some even swimming between 150-200 lengths on the day!”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Ray and the volunteers of Southam 2028 Air Cadet Squadron for their hard work in order to raise money for Fisher House UK, the home away from home for military patients and their families. I am delighted that the certificate of appreciation from QEHB Charity has been so well received by all; it is a small token of our gratitude for those who give up their free time to help others.”
