QEHB Charity joins forces with Troop Aid

On Friday 11 September, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) Charity will be joined in the hospital atrium by military charity Troop Aid where they will be running a themed stand and taking donations for Fisher House, a ‘home away from home’ for military patients and their families.

The stand will be in the atrium from 10am until 3pm and charity staff will be on hand to talk about Fisher House and collect donations from passers-by. If you’re around, why not come and say hi?

UK military charity Troop Aid has supported and continues to support Fisher House and in 2013 donated a cheque for £50,000. Al Sutton, co-founder of Troop Aid, said: “As a former serviceman I’m passionate about supporting our wounded troops who fight bravely for this country. They give so much on our behalf that it is only right to give them our support in return. They receive the best medical treatment when they return to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and our aim at Troop Aid is to provide them with the basic essentials to get them back on their feet. We are proud to be able to support the wonderful facility that is Fisher House.”

Fisher House offers 18 bedrooms as well as a host of communal areas for military patients and their families to spend time together away from the hospital ward. Fisher House cost £4.2 million to build and going forward costs £250,000 per year to run. By pledging just £25 you can provide a night’s accommodation for a family of a military patient and become a Friend of Fisher House.
