Rama abseils almost 100ft for AMU!

Manu Bharadwa was taken ill in June 2018 after discovering that his heartbeat was extremely irregular, and now his wife, Rama, has faced her fears to raise money for Solihull Hospital Charity!

Rama, 70, wanted to face her fear of heights and do something daring to raise money and awareness for the hospital that cared for her husband in his time of need.

Talking about her husband’s time in hospital, Rama said: “The staff were never too busy to help him, they really took such great time and care for my husband as well as being supportive to me.

“I really wanted to give something back to the hospital that cared for my husband. He was caredfor with such amazing dedication and good humour by all of the staff there every day.

“He’s doing really well now and I wanted to challenge myself to do something to support the team the way they supported me and my family.

“For me to do this at the age of 70 was such a huge achievement. If I can do it then I want to encourage other to do it too!”

After abseiling down the side of the Wesleyan building in Birmingham in 2019, Rama has raised an incredible £1,506.61 for Solihull Hospital’s AMU and Ward 17!

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising for the hospital charity, said: “Rama has completed not one, but two incredible challenges and has faced her fears to thank the hospital staff for their care of her husband.

“Thank you for raising such an amazing amount of money for the hospital charity, it will be spent on added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can fund for AMU and Ward 17 at the hospital.”

Rama’s family and friends supported her at both of her challenges including her daughter and granddaughter who travelled over from Spain to see her!
