Runners prepare to take on the London Marathon for QEHB Charity

On Sunday, thousands of runners will be hitting the streets of the capital to take on the London Marathon, and QEHB Charity will be well-represented on the day by two dedicated runners who are taking on the 26 mile challenge to raise money for patients at the hospital.

Emma Higgins will be taking on the marathon to raise money for The Giles' Trust, which as a part of QEHB Charity supports research into brain tumours here at QEHB. Emma was inspired to raise money for The Giles' Trust as she has two friends who are currently being treated for brain tumours. A member of Halesowen Athletics Club, Emma will be being cheered on by her husband Mark and daughter's Lily  and Amelia who are also members of the club.

Also lining up to take on the marathon for QEHB Charity is David Hudson who is raising money to support kidney patients at the hospital, after a member of his family received a kidney operation at the hospital. Speaking of the treatment that his relative received, David said that staff at QEHB: "Were absolutely amazing in every way and we would like to help and thank them for their life saving work and for the kindness and life changing support that they gave to our family."

Rachel Learmonth, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity said: "I would like to wish Emma and David the very best of luck on behalf of everyone at QEHB Charity for the London Marathon on Sunday.

"It is fantastic to see fundraisers putting themselves through a challenge as daunting as running a marathon having been inspired by family members and friends. The money that they raise will help QEHB Charity to go 'over and above' for patients at the hospital."
