Sons present hospital charity with donations in memory of their father

Joe, Ray and Martin Rushe presented a cheque to the staff on Ward 15 at Solihull Hospital for £1,079 which was raised through donations made in memory of their father Patrick who passed away on the ward in February.

Patrick had been treated at Solihull and Heartlands hospitals, and spent his final weeks on Ward 15. His sons said that the care and treatment that Patrick received from all of the staff on Ward 15, from doctors, nurses, carers and cleaners, was nothing short of exceptional, and that they made his last few weeks as comfortable as possible.

The donations were collected from Patrick's funeral, and his sons decided that they wanted to donate the money to the staff on Ward 15 to thank them for their hard work and kindness towards their dad. Solihull Hospital Charity Fundraising Manager Samatha Howell said: "This incredibly generous donation will help the hospital charity to provide the staff on Ward 15 with the 'added extras' that they require to help to improve their patients' experiences on the ward. On behalf of the hospital charity, I would like to thank Joe, Ray and Martin for what they have done, I am sure that Patrick would be very proud."
