Stand and D’Liver for the Liver Foundation!

Josh Christopher received a life-saving liver transplant at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in October 2018, and to celebrate the successful transplant and to thank the hospital and staff for the care, Josh and his family hosted their very own fundraising ball earlier this year.

Stand & D’Liver, the fundraising ball Josh and his wife, Kelly, organised for the Liver Transplant Department, was held at The Klondyke in Manchester with Josh’s band playing, a spoken word artist, Gordon Zola, a comedian, Ron Shepard, and so much more.

Talking about Josh’s care, Kelly said: “Once Josh was at home and recovering, we talked about how we could thank all the people who had been part of the amazing gift he had received – from the donor and their family to the amazing NHS staff at QEHB and the Salford Royal Manchester.

“Josh’s care in the Intensive Care Unit was beyond what we all would have expected, the staff were phenomenal – the whole team were amazing.”

Stand & D’Liver raised an incredible £2,818.92 through auctions, raffles and tickets. Kelly said: “We raised the amount we did by big hearts, lots of smiles and generosity from people we know and had never met.”

Some of the incredible raffle and auction prizes included a signed Manchester City shirt from Vincent Kompany, afternoon tea for two at Mottram Hall, Olly Murs tickets, restaurant vouchers, and lots more.

Sophie Carroll, Senior Fundraiser at QEHB Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to both Josh and Kelly for putting on this incredible fundraising event, it sounds like it was a night to remember!

“The money raised by the event will go towards funding even more added extras for patients just like Josh who are waiting, and recovering, from liver transplants. Thank you to everyone who attended and donated.”
