TSB fundraises an amazing £9,931 for Heartlands’ Children’s Appeal

A huge thank you goes to the team at TSB bank Sheldon Service Centre who have worked tirelessly to support the Heartlands Children’s Appeal. The team have been working over the past year to raise an overall figure of £9,931 for the renovation of the Children’s Garden.

Each year, Heartlands Hospital treats 56,000 children, and the Charity is aiming to improve the quality of the children’s areas to make the hospital experience more calming for children, complementing the excellent quality of care at the hospital.

With the help of fundraisers such the team from TSB bank, the charity will be able to provide the ‘added extras’ that make the children’s time at the hospital more fun and less frightening.

The Charity aims to refurbish the children’s garden area, transforming it into a safe and fun area for children to spend time in the fresh air. The garden will be fully accessible, allowing children in bed to be outside and benefit from a change of environment. The garden will also have an inside space for sheltered activities which will provide a comfortable place for children who are awaiting surgery. The space will lead to greater physical wellbeing for children, but will also offer staff the opportunity to speak to their patients in a nonclinical environment which may be more comfortable for some of the children.

Over the year Amanda Barton, Charity Ambassador for TSB Sheldon Service Centre and her team raised the money by hosting dress down days at work, cake sales, quizzes and so much more! They have also pledged that they will continue to raise money for the Children’s Appeal for Heartlands Hospital Charity again in 2019.

Sabrina Hussaine, Fundraising Officer at Heartlands Hospital Charity said: “Thank you so much to the team at TSB Sheldon Service Centre, this generous donation will be able to provide added extras that go ‘over and above’ what the NHS can afford. Our Children’s Appeal aims make a significant impact on a child’s experience in hospital, making a sometimes scary and clinical environment more fun and relaxing for both them and their parents”
