Prematurity Packs

Babies cared for on the neonatal unit are often born prematurely or very sick and their delivery is usually an emergency, leaving parents little time to prepare.

When a baby is admitted to the neonatal unit, the parents are encouraged to spend as much time with their baby as possible. This promotes bonding and the brain development of babies. These packs will contain some welcome essentials which are not provided routinely by the neonatal unit.

Due to parents spending long periods of time on the neonatal unit, it is important their basic needs are met. This includes being able to have refreshments on the unit so that do not have to leave their babies. Providing parents with the drink sachets will mean they can be with their babies longer and will be a gesture towards recognising the parents need for care at this extremely stressful time.

Parents will receive a lot of essential information when they arrive and throughout their stay on the unit but sometimes this can be very overwhelming and parents find it hard to take it all in. These packs will enable the information to be given and kept in one place so parents can read through it in their own time and this is proven to help with understanding and retention of information.

These packs will help parents spend as much time as possible with their new babies, during a time that can be incredibly stressful. We are proud to support parents in whatever way we can during their time of need.
