With all the vital, life-saving work that occurs on a daily basis at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, it can be easy to overlook the environmental factors that can have an impact on wellbeing when coping with recovery, rehabilitation or grief.
Regardless of the high standard of care provided by staff at QEHB, staying in hospital or visiting a family member there can be stressful and difficult to deal with. Having a quiet space to reflect and relax away from the wards can be invaluable when it comes to wellbeing – not just for patients and their families, but for the staff who treat them.
We are lucky at QEHB to have a lot of green space available throughout the site and we have now transformed these areas to include a vegetable patch, woodland area and wild flower meadow. As part of the project, a variety of new trees has been and will continue to be planted around the site.
These trees will require love and care as they continue to grow and bear fruit, and we are asking for your support to keep our new community orchards and gardens going with the launch of our Sponsor the Trees appeal!
Donate £50 to support this project and keep QEHB a beautiful and relaxing place to visit, stay and work. Whether you want to celebrate an anniversary, remember a loved one or thank a particular ward or department for their care, sponsoring the trees at QEHB is a great way to leave a lasting contribution to the site itself.
You can also take part in our Nest Box Adoption Scheme where you can adopt a bird box for £35 for a year! By doing this you will providing a valuable home for our birds and you are also helping to support us with our project aimed at enhancing and improving all of our green spaces. We will keep you updated with how the birds in your bird box are doing! Contact us if you would like to find out more and to purchase your bird box!
To sponsor a tree, please click the 'donate to this fund' button at the top of this page, or for more information contact Sophie Carroll on 0121 371 4852 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Green Spaces Coordinator Glenn Powell will be taking groups of people around the green spaces and telling them about them on the first Friday of each month from 10am-11am. Meet Glenn at our Fundraising Hub in the main entrance of QEHB to start your walk!
