Volunteering

Would you like to make a difference and give something back to help patients by supporting the hospital charity?

Do you enjoy meeting new people and lending a friendly ear to staff and supporters?

Perhaps you are searching for new experiences to boost your CV and employability, or you would like to improve your team building skills? (note this does not include clinical oportunities)

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the hospital charity needs you!

The hospital charity needs reliable and enthusiastic volunteers to get involved in a wide range of different and exciting activities and events.

From manning our Charity hubs on the hospital site, to taking part in our bucket collections or lending a hand at our larger events (the Birmingham Half Marathon, gala dinners and family fun days!), there are loads of ways you can be involved.

Volunteering is a fantastic way to build your confidence, pick up new, transferable skills and meet like-minded people.

Pets in Hospital

We are also looking to recruit new volunteers and their dogs to join our Pets in Hospital scheme. The scheme sees our four-legged volunteers (and their lovely humans!) visit patients and staff at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, helping to reduce anxiety and enhance patient communication and interaction. The visits make a big difference, improving mental health and wellbeing, and creating a positive environment for patients and staff.

We would love to take Pets in Hospital to our other hospital sites across Birmingham, in particular Good Hope Hospital. The charity provides all the assessments, training and equipment for your dog, so if you and your furry friend are interested in joining our paw-some team please contact us at petsinhospital@uhb.nhs.uk. You can find out more about the scheme HERE

Volunteering for UHB Trust

The hospital charity welcomes new volunteers across QEHB, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital.

Thank you!
