QEHB Charity provides free WiFi for patients and visitors

QEHB Charity is excited to announce that we are now funding a free WiFi network for patients and visitors at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham!

We know that nobody wants to have to spend long periods of time in hospital, which is why we want to help make the experience as pleasant it can be. The new Wifi network, which is already up and running, will enable patients and visitors to keep in touch, listen to music, catch up on TV or check their Twitter feed when they have to be in hospital.

The new WiFi network is available at the following locations:

– Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

– Nuffield House

– Heritage Building (majority of areas)

– Trust Headquarters/Haematology Clinic

– Post Graduate Centre

– The Learning Hub

To connect, just search for a network called QEHBCharity-guestWiFi, enter your email address and then agree to the Terms and Conditions. It’s as simple as that!

Mike Hammond, Chief Executive of QEHB Charity, said: “We are already starting to hear about how the new network is benefitting our patients – they can keep in touch with friends and family, browse the web and keep themselves entertained whilst on the wards or waiting for an appointment.  It also means patients can give the Trust real time feedback as they will have easy access to patient experience surveys.”

The WiFi has been funded by QEHB Charity for patients and visitors to use. Staff are being asked not to use this network as the bandwidth has a finite capacity – if staff use it, this will impact on the level of service which patients and visitors receive.
