Great grandparents raise money for Neonatal Unit

Great grandparents Peter and Doreen Brayley have donated £1,800 to purchase two breastfeeding recliner chairs for the Neonatal Unit at Heartlands Hospital.

The couples’ great grandson, Reggie Curley, was born seven weeks early in September last year. He spent the first month of his life in the Neonatal Unit so the couple wanted to give something back to the unit that helped their great grandson.

The breastfeeding recliner chairs are there to allow the mother and baby to sit comfortably when breastfeeding and these chairs have already made a massive difference in the unit.

Peter and Doreen raised money by doing car boot sales and have raised over £30,000 in the past, which has mainly gone to the Children’s Hospital, and they love to fundraise for things that are needed in the unit at Heartlands.

Sabrina Hussaine, Fundraising Assistant at Heartlands Hospital, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to Peter and Doreen for raising enough money to buy another two breastfeeding chairs. These chairs make a huge difference in the unit and make it easier for mothers to breastfeed. Things like this are the ‘added extras’ we provide to wards and units that really need them.”
