The old Queen Elizabeth Hospital was established in Birmingham in 1933, and was replaced with a new £545 million hospital under the same name in 2010.
The hospital provides a whole range of services for the people of the West Midlands and beyond, and its facilities include:
• The largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe
• National specialist centre status for liver, heart and lung transplantation, as well as cancer studies
• The largest single-floor critical care unit in the world
QEHB is also the home of the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine which cares for injured servicemen and women from conflict zones, as well as training Army, Navy and Air Force medical staff. You can read more about the hospital and its facilities here.
