5 year old Ben to take on 5km Mud Run to raise funds for Neonatal Unit

A big thank you and good luck to young fundraiser Ben who is taking on a 5km obstacle Mud Run on 23rd July to raise money for the Neonatal Unit at Heartlands Hospital where he was looked after as a baby.

Ben was born 12 weeks prematurely on 19th November 2012 at Heartlands Hospital weighing just 3lbs 1oz.  Straight after he was born Ben was taken to the Neonatal Unit where, for the first few weeks of his life, he was in intensive care.  Over the next few weeks Ben built up his strength and, a month after being born, went home with his parents on Christmas Eve!

Ben is now almost six years old and he and his mum Sarah have tirelessly fundraised for the Neonatal Unit at Heartlands.  In 2017 they ran together in the 5km Bubble Rush Run dressed as superheroes despite Ben having broken his foot only a few weeks before!

So far Ben and his mum have raised £1,141.97 and on 23rd July Ben will be taking part in a challenging 5km obstacle Mud Run to raise further funds for the Neonatal Unit. Ben’s full story is on his Just Giving page - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bens-journey.
