Adventurous folk do ‘summit amazing’ for Birmingham Hospital Charities
On Saturday 9 September 2017, over 75 people pulled on their walking boots and tackled Mount Snowdon, in a bid to raise vital funds for their local Birmingham Hospitals.
Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, Heartlands Hospital Charity, Solihull Hospital Charity and Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust all joined forces for the day to take on the challenge.
Sophie Carroll, Fundraising Officer at QEHB Charity said: “It was fantastic to see so many people on the day, from members of the public wanting to give back the hospitals, as well as staff from the different areas just show how passionate we all are about our local hospitals”.
Despite the temperamental weather on the day spirits remained high with the help from the brilliant guides at Large Outdoors. One walker said: “The guides were so professional on the day and we are already looking forward to next year’s trip”
The Charity would also like to say a huge thank you to Robinsons catering who supplied the sandwiches for the day and kept everybody energised for the six hour walk, Britvic for keeping us all hydrated, and Marks and Spencers Harborne and the Co-Op Oldbury road for keeping everybody’s sugar levels up.
Khlaid Rahid, who participated in the trek raised a fantastic £303.14 for QEHB Charity said: “It was a great day and I really enjoyed meeting like-minded people. In total the day raised over £10,000 for Birmingham Hospitals. QEHB Charity are so grateful to everybody that took part, and we hope to see some familiar faces next year, as well as some new ones!
