And the prize goes to... Devon House at Heartlands Hospital!

The results are in and the Charity is proud to announce that staff at Devon House have snatched the award for fundraising the most money for the NHS Big 7Tea Party!

Following the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the NHS, people up and down the country held NHS7Tea parties where they participated in baking and selling cakes for their local hospital charities. Numerous staff, patients and visitors across Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital, Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital all participated in the event. However, the team at Heartlands Hospital at Devon House raised the most across all four hospitals raising a total £345.17!

The Admin Team went to extraordinary efforts in decorating the reception area to really get everyone into the spirit. Ann Penson and Reena Pitrola arranged the cake sale and were helped by the rest of the Admin Team. The event certainly did not disappoint the team had set up a vast array of delicious treats from homemade cupcakes, Victoria sponges, chocolate muffins, chocolate and many shop bought cakes donated including Red Velvet Cake, Lemon Drizzle, cupcakes, sponge cakes, fancy fondants and fairy cakes.  They also purchased 100 samosas which were gone within an hour, as not everyone had a sweet tooth!

The team decided that they would split the money raised between the Elderly, Children’s and Neonatal department which will make a huge difference. Ann was quoted to say “This event was great for staff morale and I couldn’t believe what a success the day was and what a happy and positive atmosphere it gave!”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Manager at Heartlands Hospital said: “The Charity is really pleased with the amount that the team have raised for the three departments! The added extras that the Charity will be able to provide the wards as a result of their hard efforts will really make a difference. Thank you!”
