Asda Chelmsley Wood raises money for children at Solihull Hospital

Solihull Hospital Charity was nominated for one of Asda Chelmsley Wood’s three green token scheme, and the Charity had the most amount of tokens and won £500!

The scheme runs quarterly in the store and has three boxes representing three different charities and the one with the most votes wins £500.

Medina Chambers, Community Champion at Asda Chelmsley Wood met the charity for a cheque presentation. The £500 that was donated will go directly towards the Children’s Appeal at Solihull Hospital Charity, helping to provide toys and sensory equipment for the children who visit the hospital.

Solihull Hospital Charity set up the £200,000 Children’s Appeal last year to help improve a child’s overall experience at hospital. For a lot of children, visiting hospital can be a scary and stressful experience which can be distressing for their parents and difficult for the staff to treat them. By having toys and sensory equipment for the children, they can play whilst they wait for their appointments and feel a little bit more relaxed whilst in the hospital.

Rachel Learmonth, Fundraising Manager at Solihull Hospital Charity, said: “A huge thank you goes to Asda in Chelmsley Wood who chose the Charity as one of their three green token scheme, and their fantastic customers who have been voting for us. The £500 donated will go towards ‘added extras’ for the children who are treated here at Solihull Hospital every single day.”
