Attending the Invictus Games? Come and say hello to us!
Today sees the official opening of the Invictus Games where around 400 injured and sick servicemen and women from 13 nations compete in nine adaptive sports.
The event, which is championed by Prince Harry, will be held at the Olympic Park in London and we are there!
We have a stand at the opening and closing ceremonies of the Games sharing information about Fisher House, the ‘home away from home’ for wounded troops and their families.
If you’re heading to the Games, do come and see us and say “hello”!
We’re looking forward to catching up with the British team cared for over the years at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, the receiving unit for all injured military personnel and their families.
We’re also excited about getting together again with the Fisher House Foundation which has sponsored the US Games team.
Speaking from the event Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising, said: “It means a great deal to be here at this prestigious event, not least to witness just how far the servicemen and women who were cared for at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham have come.
“It is an honour and immensely inspiring to see what can be achieved with sheer grit and detemination and the support of loved ones, many of whom we have come to know during their stays at Fisher House.
“We would love to see you if you are at the Games so please do come and say “hi”!”
