Birmingham Irish Cycle Appeal raise £5,000 for Solihull Hospital

Birmingham Irish Cycle Appeal, a cycling team from Birmingham, (BICA) has donated an incredible £5,000 towards the build of the Solihull Chemotherapy Day Unit, a new unit acting as an extension of the service provided by ward 19 at Heartlands Hospital.

BICA are dedicated fundraisers, having already raised £13,000 in 2014 towards the Charity’s CyberKnife and breast cancer appeals, and in 2015 they raised a further £10,000 for the refurbishment of QEHB’s radiotherapy department.

The cycling team have raised this incredible amount by doing a sponsored cycle across Ireland, however, this year they have opted for sunnier climes, taking their challenge to Cyprus!

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising said: “Thank you to BICA for continued support of the Charity, your fantastic donation is the equivalent of one chemotherapy chair and space, with all the equipment and facilities to treat a patient with cancer.”
