Book helps to raise valuable funds for NHS Superheroes appeal

Herkomal Singh Patara (aka Rainbow Man) has raised £1,001 for University Hospitals Birmingham Charity’s NHS Superheroes appeal thanks to a very special book that he has written. Rainbow Man describes Mumbles13 as a modern, practical, fourth dimensional, self help guide relating to mind, body and spirit, and he is donating all of the profits to support a number of NHS charities across the country.

Rainbow Man, who lives in Birmingham, wanted to do something special to raise funds to support the NHS at this difficult time. He was inspired to write a self-help book and decided that the profits should go to supporting the NHS Trust Charities and in particular the NHS workers who are the real superheroes of today! Mumbles13 has proven very popular.

Rainbow Man has received a lot of support in the UK (and abroad), and the sales so far have allowed him to make a donation of £1,001 to UHB Charity in support of the NHS Superheroes appeal. He decided to support UHB charity as the book is dedicated to his grandmother (Kartar Kaur) and his mother (Satnam Kaur) who were both patients of Queen Elizabeth and Heartlands hospitals.

Speaking of the difference that the money will make, Rainbow Man said, “I was determined to do something to help the NHS staff in their hour of need, as they have selflessly risked their lives for the community and betterment of humanity.

“I am delighted that I have been able to make this donation to my local hospital charity to support patients and staff across the West Midlands. I am so grateful to everyone who has purchased a copy of the book so far. Your generosity has made this donation possible”.

Charlotte Schofield, Director of Fundraising at University Hospitals Birmingham Charity, said: “On behalf of the staff and patients across University Hospitals Birmingham I would like to thank Rainbow Man for generously donating the proceeds of Mumbles13 to NHS charities, and also to everyone who has purchased a copy of the book so far. The donation will help us to support our patients and families at this difficult time.

“This donation will also help us to fund iPads for our patients, to allow them to stay in contact with their loved ones at a time where they cannot have visitors on the wards and comfort packs for staff wellbeing. We have also been funding activity packs for our patients to keep them entertained during their time in hospital.

“Since the start of the pandemic we have been supporting our staff through our wellbeing hubs, which are open for staff to relax, eat and drink in, away from the wards. These hubs have proven incredibly popular with our staff members, who have all been going over and above in really difficult circumstances.

“None of this would have been possible without the amazing support that we have received from fundraisers like Rainbow Man.”
