Celebration of life raises over £3,000 for Cardiology Department

Earlier this summer, Sarah Halford, Sidney Timmins and their family and friends came together for a night of celebration, music and fundraising at Sedgley Working Men’s Club. The family were celebrating the life of Sadie Timmins, Sarah’s mother and Sidney’s wife, who sadly passed away a year ago.

The event was held a year after her death, and gave her family and friends a chance to come together to share their memories of Sadie and fundraise to support the work of the Cardiology Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham where she was treated.

The event raised a fantastic £3,335.57 for the Cardiology Unit, thanks to ticket sales, a raffle and a tombola. The guests enjoyed fabulous performances from fellow friends and family members, including Sadie’s son in law and granddaughter.

This is not the first time that Sadie’s family have donated to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity, having donated £1,260 to the Cardiology Unit shortly after Sadie passed away.

Speaking at the time, Sidney said: “Professor Leyva and his team were always so lovely to Sadie and I, and they gave her the best care possible. I’m glad we were able to do it and be able to donate the money to the Charity. It is lovely to think that through it we are able to help other patients.”

Cathryn Worth, Fundraising Manager at QEHB Charity, said: “Our thanks go to all of Sadie’s incredible family and friends who have raised so much money in her memory. Their donations will help us to provide the very best care to patients on the Cardiology Unit.”
