Clarissa's Love raises valuable funds for Charity

Clarissa Greenfield, aged four, is a very special young person who put her budding artistry skills to use to make a very special gift for her Granny, Denise.

Denise started to feel depressed after doctors found an aneurysm on her brain, and as Clarissa and her granny had such a close relationship, Clarissa noticed, and felt she ought to do something to cheer her up.

Clarissa, together with her mum, Felicity, put out an appeal asking for people to write love letters to her Granny from all of the places she loved, some of which they had visited together. In total, Clarissa collected an astonishing 207 love letters from all over the world from as far as China, Australia and the US! Clarissa and her mum wanted to put all the letters in a scrapbook to give to Denise as a birthday present.

The family managed to keep the scrapbook a secret, however, Denise did have some idea of what was going on as news was spreading fast all over social media!

Following the success of the letters, Felicity got in touch with a local artist, Catherine Davis, to ask if she would write a letter for Clarissa, eager to help Clarissa, Catherine asked if there was anything else she could do. As an artist Catherine decided to create some designs from a drawing that Clarissa did of two colourful elephants, representing her and her Grandma.

These designs have now been put on mugs and cushions, and are being sold in Catherine’s online shop, with profits coming to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Charity. You can purchase these adorable items here.
