Corporate Solutions Logistics donates £10,000 for radiotherapy patients

A local logistics company based in Birmingham Business Park, Solihull, has donated £10,000 to the radiotherapy department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Corporate Solutions Logistics, which manages warehousing and distribution for corporations, made the generous contribution to QEHB Charity’s radiotherapy fund in order to purchase new abdominal compression equipment to benefit people being treated using radiotherapy. Each year, the directors of CSL choose a charity close to their hearts to donate to, deciding to support QEHB Charity in 2016 after their colleague received treatment for cancer at the hospital.

Des Ponsonby, Managing Director of CSL, visited QEHB on Thursday 29 September to deliver the cheque for £10,000 in person to Claire Bode, Technical Lead Practitioner for Radiotherapy at QEHB, who identified the need for the new equipment. During his visit he was able to see the department and learn more about how the generous donation will benefit patients.

Des said: “It’s fantastic to be in a position to help important local causes such as this one, and a real pleasure to be able to visit the hospital and see first-hand where our donation will be spent.”

Sian Averill, Fundraising Officer for QEHB Charity, said: “This incredibly kind donation is enabling the radiotherapy department to purchase abdominal compression equipment which will really benefit people receiving radiotherapy treatment. It’s wonderful to work with companies like CSL to provide equipment like this, and I’d like to thank Des and his colleagues for their generosity.”
