Couple's milestone anniversary raises money for liver fund

Carolyn and Paul Mason have recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary and hosted a lunch with friends and family to celebrate the landmark occassion. Instead of gifts, the kind-hearted couple asked for donations to QEHB Charity.

Carolyn and Paul's friends and family generously donated over £290 which will go to the Liver Foundation at QEHB and the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Master Masons of Warwickshire have pledged to donate a further £250.

The couple were inspired to raise money by Carolyn's treatment at the hospital for Autoimmune Hepatitis (AIH). a chronic liver condition that causes the body's immune system to attack its own. There are approximately 10,000 people living with AIH in the UK, with women three to four times more likely to have it than men, with women around the age of 45 being most commonly affected.

Justine Davy, Head of Fundraising for QEHB Charity said: "The Charity's thanks go to Paul, Carolny and all of their friends and family for the support they have given. I hope that they all had a lovely time at the celebration, especially eating the wonderful cake, and feel proud of the difference that their money will make to patients here at the hospital."
